As you know every week now the three of us find a news story that we hope is hilarious and may beat each other for the funniest. Or just to make us and you laugh. Although I still want to win! Anyway, we never agreed to a name for this section but I still wanted to start work on a title card so here it is! The name may change. The reason I called it this is because of Professor Farnsworth and his famous quote; “Good news, everyone!”.
The Comic Corner!
Now this section is something we wanted to do. After all we are a podcast about pop culture and you cant get more pop culture then Comics, which we all love here! We get comics every week and what I like to do is hear reviews on certain issues that come out that week/month. Which is difficult to find. So why don’t we do it! So when every Wednesday comes we get our comics from the local comic shop and eventually in the same week (hopefully in the same day, but I wont hold my breathe) we will record the episode and in “The Comic Corner” Section we will discuss our purchases. This should take too long and it would be nice as we all have a different choice when it comes to comics in the team. Expect this to be a prominent thing in the podcast in the near future!
I think after talking to Mr Churchman about our dilemma when a certain someone goes back to London we agreed on a new name! Well actually the credit should go to my friend and housemate Jonny Bursnell. White Geeks will be the name of episodes not involving Raphael (the black man) however we are still keep the episodic numbering and all the features that come with White Man/Black Man Sandwich so the first episode of the new title will be the next one; Episode 5. As for the logo above, I am not sure if this is the final one as I have not cleared it up with the guys. So this post is also a chance for them to check it out…. so what do we think? Also don’t worry folks. This is’nt the end for Raphael and will be back soon.
Thought I would just take a moment to place the logo up. Mainly because I’m about to post a new logo for the episodes that Raph is away along it’s own title card and several others. Anyway here is the logo!
The fourth episode of White Man/Black Man Sandwich! Are you sitting comfortably? Good… then lets begin. This episode the guys discuss the videogame L.A Noire. By the way unfortunatley this episode got another visit from the Static Gremlin again! Only for a brief moment though so you may have to grin and bare it… it’s worth it… I promise!
And unfortunately its a slow news week so its a bit of an awkward one! But in this week’s podcast we are delving into stupid news stories, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and comic cross overs! Also features a long winded appearance from Shredder! gulp! Anyway enjoy!
Anyway just thought I’d better post something up on the ol’ Tumblr, since at the moment all we have on here is the two pilot episodes and the first episode but no posts. So what will I type? Well I thought I’d might share a few things that the others and I have been thinking of doing with the podcast! First of all Huw and myself have constantly been discussing structure, which we were quite heavy with on the First episode. As a personal opinion I think we should have that kind of structure but have more freedom and have it more natural much like in the pilots (maybe not the “What” episode as that has no structure lol).
Also I have been looking into some of my favourirte podcasts which has given me some inspiration for future episodes. One of those ideas is taking a look into general news at the start rather than just pop culture news and then finding the really obscure and funny stuff to talk about. Also for those of you who have been listening in you may have come across Alex Russell-Davis’ rendition of Stan Lee. Now I know myself thought this was bloody fantastic and hilarious and we thinking of making this a regular thing. Something similar had been done with Steve Wright in the afternoon on BBC Radio 2 with ask Elvis, were people rang in and asked questions to a bad impression of Elvis…. Very funny! But as Alex brought up, this could get dull, so maybe this calls for us to try out our best impression skills to bring in multiple “Guest celebrities” and we will also try to encourage people to email in and ask questions for the next guest…. However we won’t tell you who it is until they appear in the show! Speaking of Alex! We already had several of our friends interested in joining in so that’s nice to hear and we’ll have plenty of people who want to be guest speakers.
Also our friend and my house mate Jonny Bursnell has agreed to do a little theme tune for us! Which is great! Probably some 8-bit style stuff I believe. Anyway as for the next episode I havent got much to say…. As we don’t know what it’s about yet lol but if you guessed we keep aiming for a recording every Wednesday, so then I can quickly edit it and then upload it the Thursday night ready for the Friday! We’ll see how that goes. Whoa! I typed a lot! Anyway once we know what the next episode is about I’m sure one of us will post it up on here so you can get excited for that…. Or not… Suppose it depends on what it’s about…. SO hope that was all good, I guess I’ll see you later…. Peace.
Here it is folks! The first ever episode of White Man/Black Man Sandwich the podcast about geeky pop culture! Starring Ben Allen, Raphael Obaro and Huw Churchman and the topics in this week’s episode is the DC Comics reboot and how it’ll effect the DC universe. Also what’s happening with E3 2011 so far, thats Wii U, Playstation Vita and more! Do not move away from this screen!
And Just a warning! Im afraid there is alot of static at one point in the episode. It is only for a brief moment so not too much to worry about.
White Man/Black Man Sandwich (The “What” Episode!)
Ok! This Im afraid is not episode 1! Instead we have offered you up another pilot and called it the “What!” Episode. Why? Because that’s exactly what you’ll be saying when you listen to this! Although we say we will be duiscussing certain subjects in this episode we never get around to it! It is just mindless banter for 53 minutes! So are you up for it?
Also the main reason this episode even exists is because of our dear guest; Alex Russel- Davis as he really wanted to have a go. It was also nice as we got to attempt new things that I think we want to add into the show…. Stan Lee anyone? Anyway enjoy! See you on Episode 1!
